Commanding Officer, Valley Traffic Division - Captain Phillip S. Trotter

 

Captain Trotter is a 28-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) currently assigned as the Commanding Officer, Valley Traffic Division (VTD); the largest of LAPD’s Traffic Divisions.  Captain Trotter has been assigned at VTD since July 2008. 

Valley Traffic Division conducts traffic enforcement and has the primary duty of investigating traffic collisions throughout the approximate 230.4 square miles of Operations-Valley Bureau (OVB), located in the San Fernando Valley.  The 230.4 square miles of OVB covers the seven LAPD Station areas of Van Nuys, West Valley, North Hollywood, Foothill, Devonshire, Mission and Topanga and their surrounding communities.  There are approximately 3,664 street miles covered by VTD. 

Valley Traffic Division tries to reduce traffic collisions through education, enforcement, and engineering.  The Valley Traffic Advisory Council Valley Traffic Division has been instrumental in assisting VTD with funds for education and enforcement.
