One of the founding members of VTAC Dale served thirty-three years with LAPD prior to his retirement in 2003. He was the Officer in Charge (Motorcycle Sergeant) of the
Community Traffic Services Unit, Valley Traffic Division .
In 1990, he was awarded the LAPD “Medal of Valor” for saving three lives. The incident
received national coverage and resulted in legislation being passed.
Today, the legislation is known in California as the “Good Samaritan Law”.
Dale has returned to the VTAC Board of Directors bringing with him a working knowledge
and solid understanding of the needs of Valley Traffic Division.
Dale grew up in the San Fernando Valley attending Sunny Brea Elementary, Sutter Jr. High and Canoga High.
He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1965 and served two combat tours in Vietnam.
Dale remains active with many Veteran organizations such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion,
Marine Corps League and the 1st Marine Division Association just to name a few.
He is the Past President of the Los Angeles County Chapter, Inc., 1st Marine Division Association and Past President
and current national chapter representative of the internationally famous Bodfish Chapter , 1st Marine Division
Association .
